Abductors Of Kankara Students Finally Communicate Demands by HumAngle

The abductors of hundreds of schoolboys in Kankara community, Katsina State, northwest Nigeria, have made first contact with a set of demands, according to the state governor, Aminu Masari.

The governor disclosed this on Monday during a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari’s family home in Daura.

Over 300 schoolboys were missing after a group of armed men attacked Government Science Secondary School Kankara Local Government Area on Friday night.

It was one of the largest abductions to take place in Nigeria in recent history.

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed in a statement after Masari’s meeting with the president that negotiations were on with the abductors.

Shehu quoted the governor as saying that the abductors had made contact and discussions were already on, regarding the safe return of the missing schoolboys.

According to the statement, Masari also disclosed that the security agencies had identified the location of the abducted students.

He expressed optimism that their release would be secured.

The governor noted that President Buhari was committed to the rescue of the Kankara schoolboys, adding that it was appropriate to brief him on rescue efforts.
